Porcelain veneers, completed result, close-up smile

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of high-strength porcelain bonded to the front of your teeth, used to alter shape, colour, alignment, or worn dentition. A considered cosmetic treatment that we plan carefully on a case-by-case basis.

What to expect

How a porcelain veneers
appointment runs.

We keep things calm and unhurried. Here's the rhythm you can expect from start to finish, no surprises.

  1. Consultation & planning

We talk in detail about what you want to change. Photos, smile analysis, sometimes a digital preview or wax-up so you can see the proposed look before committing.

  2. Preparation

First visit: numbing, then conservative shaping of the front of each tooth (usually 0.3 to 0.5mm). We take detailed impressions or a scan and place temporary veneers.

  3. Try-in

Second visit: your custom porcelain veneers come back from the lab. We try them in before bonding and you check the look in the mirror, adjustments before final commitment.

  4. Bonding & finish

We bond each veneer permanently. Bite check, polish, photographs, and a maintenance plan. We see you for a 1 to 2 week review to make sure everything's settled.

What's included

Every appointment, in full.

  • Wax mock-up or digital smile preview
  • Conservative tooth preparation where indicated

Why it matters

Well-planned porcelain veneers can closely match the appearance of natural teeth. Longevity depends on case selection, occlusion, oral hygiene and ongoing maintenance. Veneers are an irreversible procedure, we'll talk you through the considerations before any treatment begins.

Common questions

Things people
often ask.

Can't see your question? Call us on (02) 9570 4044 and we'll happily talk it through.

Are veneers reversible?

No, once any tooth structure is removed for the prep, that's permanent. The veneers themselves can be replaced over time, but the underlying preparation cannot be undone. We talk you through this carefully before any tooth is touched.

How long do veneers last?

Well-made, well-maintained porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 15+ years. Lifespan depends on case selection, your bite, oral hygiene, and habits like grinding or nail-biting. No restoration lasts forever.

Will they look fake?

Modern porcelain matches the colour, translucency and surface texture of natural teeth. Done well, veneers should look like your own teeth, just a refined version. We tend toward natural rather than 'Hollywood white'.

How is it different from bonding?

Bonding is composite resin, done chairside in one visit, lasting 5 to 10 years. Veneers are porcelain, lab-made, and last longer with better colour stability, but cost more and involve some tooth prep. Bonding is often the right starting point; veneers are the more committed option.

Do I need a night guard afterwards?

If you grind, yes, grinding wears porcelain over time and can fracture veneers. We assess your wear pattern at consultation and include a night guard in the plan if needed.

How many should I get?

Depends on what's bothering you. Many patients only need 4 to 6 upper front teeth. Others need 8 to 10 to balance the smile. We'll show you the options and what each looks like before any work begins.
